Walnut Plantation sprung in Türkiye 2024

In alignment with its commitment to environmental sustainability and community empowerment, MIF, in partnership with the Sri Sathya Sai Charitable Trust UK, successfully completed a significant tree plantation initiative in Türkiye in 2024. A total of 1008 walnut saplings were planted in the village of Çardak, near Eskişehir, with the goal of restoring the natural environment while creating a lasting source of income for the local population. This multi-layered initiative was carefully planned and executed to ensure long-term impact. High-quality walnut saplings, suitable for the regional soil and climate, were procured from trusted nurseries. A parcel of land was secured through the support of the local municipality, and was meticulously prepared through soil testing, clearing, and the implementation of an irrigation plan to support healthy growth.
The planting event itself was a celebration of unity and purpose. Local villagers, dignitaries, and guests joined the saplings-planting, followed by a vegan community meal and cultural performances that reflected the vibrant heritage of Çardak. Beyond its ecological impact, the project served as a platform for cultural exchange, education, and community bonding. Post plantation care has been entrusted to local residents, ensuring ongoing maintenance such as watering, pest control, and monitoring. This involvement not only secures the health of the plantation but also brings additional livelihood opportunities to the community. This initiative marks a milestone in our environmental efforts, embodying the power of collaboration and foresight. The walnut trees planted today will stand as symbols of growth, resilience, and harmony for generations to come.
