ACT 4 Sri Lanka 2023

By addressing food insecurity, medical needs, and education, the initiative has made a significant impact in 2023, in collaboration with ACT Foundation UK.

Throughout 2023, ACT 4 Sri Lanka operated four community kitchens that served 23,000 meals to needy communities, including the disabled, elderly, women, and children. These kitchens provide not just nourishment but also comfort, hope, and a sense of belonging, ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry.

Recognizing that education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty, the initiative established a School Nutritional Meal Program, serving over 35,000 freshly cooked vegan meals to children across four schools in 2023. By fueling both body and mind, these meals empower children to excel in their studies and build brighter futures. In total, the initiative provided 58,000 meals in 2023, bringing the overall number of meals served since its inception to 78,000.

Sight to the Blind with ACT4Vision Initiative

The ACT 4 Vision Initiative has been instrumental in restoring sight to those who couldn’t afford cataract surgeries. In 2023, the initiative partnered with three local hospitals to support 536 cataract surgeries, bringing the total to 720 since the program began. These surgeries have transformed lives, restoring independence and vitality to those who had lived in darkness.

Quenching Thirst with Water Wells

Access to clean water is a critical issue in rural Sri Lanka. ACT 4 Sri Lanka completed a water well project in 2023, providing clean water to a community of 75 people. This well is a lifeline for the village, offering safe water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation. Efforts are ongoing to complete a second water well in another needy village, further extending the impact.

Equipping the Future with Educational Supplies

To ensure that economically disadvantaged children have the tools they need for education, ACT 4 Sri Lanka provided school supplies to 30 underprivileged children in 2023. By equipping them with essentials like notebooks, pens, and backpacks, the initiative is empowering these children to attend school with pride and enthusiasm. Through these comprehensive efforts, ACT 4 Sri Lanka continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of the most vulnerable, fostering hope, health, and empowerment across communities.
